IND vs ENG T20i: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to conduct a detailed review of the Indian men’s T20 team’s recent performances after the ongoing England series, following a string of disappointing results that have raised serious concerns within the board.
India’s struggles in the shortest format have continued despite significant changes made after the team’s second consecutive T20 World Cup triumph earlier this year. The leadership transition, which saw Shreyas Iyer take over the captaincy from Suryakumar Yadav, has so far failed to produce the desired results, with the team losing every T20 international under the new skipper.
BCCI Plans Performance Review After England Series
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the board will assess the team’s performance once the England tour concludes. Speaking about the situation, he acknowledged that India’s recent results have been disappointing and said discussions will be held with both the captain and the coaching staff to understand the reasons behind the decline.
According to Saikia, the review is intended to identify the areas where the team has fallen short and to ensure corrective measures are taken as quickly as possible. The board hopes the exercise will help restore the team’s consistency and competitive standards ahead of future international assignments.
India Yet to Register a Win Under Shreyas Iyer
The appointment of Shreyas Iyer as India’s T20 captain was expected to mark the beginning of a new chapter after the squad underwent changes following its World Cup success. However, the transition has proven difficult.
Since Iyer assumed the leadership role, India has lost five consecutive T20 internationals. The poor run began with a 2-0 series whitewash against Ireland, a result that surprised many considering India’s stronger squad on paper.
